When to jump to zero mg effexor? (and being patient!)

Posted by mmsm @mmsm, Sep 27 9:00am

I have been weaning off effexor er for a year, and am down to 8.1mg (weighing beads). At what point is it safe/recommended to jump to zero? I have seen different recommendations by different experts (Sorenson, Horowitz).
Also, I'm having such a tough time with the amount of time this is taking. How can I wrap my brain around it and be more patient? I feel like I'm just missing my life.

What dose of CBD did you take and how often. I am having problems with the frustration and insomnia and temper and really do not want to live like that again. This drug is so awful. I will never go near it again if I ever get off it.
So far am on 21 mg and am going really slow. I had terrible panic attacks and am afraid of them reoccurring. Ugh

Weaning off Effexor has been a nightmare for me. I have been holding steady at 97.5 mg, using combination of tablets and compounded formula. Withdrawal effects have included extreme fatigue, heartburn, weak legs, and the newest one is extreme itching all over my body. Is there anyone else out there weaning off Effexor having the same issue as itching, especially on scalp and back?

Go down at about 3mg every 30 days Use Benadryl for breakthrough symptoms
Those symptoms will get better but you will have to use other drugs to treat them.
Just go slow. And easy

@pjs70 Adding my two cents worth on Effexor. I took it for two weeks and felt like electricity was zapping my brain. Is there anyone who gets relief from their depression and doesn’t mind the ‘zapping’? Everything I read about Effexor makes me glad I didn’t continue taking it.

@mmsm I have been taking Effexor for about 7 years and have had no issues. Taking 300 mg and haven’t had any problems.

@sjd416 there are much better SSRI meds out there for depression
Lexapro
Cymbalta
Etc
Talk to your doc ask for a psych consult for an evaluation to see what will help you the best The others do not do the nasty stuff that this awful drug does

@pjs70 I take 50 to 75 mg CBD/CBN oil every evening to help keep me asleep and it helped when I was weaning myself of Effexor. I use brand name Neurogan 12,000 bottle.

@pjs70 Thanks, sorry I didn’t clarify my comment better. I now take an antidepressant that works well for me. Effexor was several years ago.
