Is Raynauds hereditary?

Posted by pstevens67 @pstevens67, Oct 27, 2024

I was told that a forms of Raynauds is hereditary and that it can affect my kid's or skip them and hit their kids and so on down the family. Is that true? I was diagnosed with Raynauds in my early 30's and recently with systemic sclerosis.

My grandmother, my father, both his brothers, both my brothers, myself, and both my daughters all have Raynauds. I would assume its likely hereditary.

There articles including Raynaud’s. Association. Have found the genetic genes. Above are three links. The US does not have very much research in the area.

I got my Raynaud's shortly after COVID-19 vaccine, which today is known to trigger Raynaud's based on this publication:
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0264410X24011526
- Among the patients with detailed information of vaccination (n = 20), the number of vaccine doses was not related to RP development (45 % (1st) vs. 30 % (2nd) vs. 25 % 3rd dose). For types of vaccine, 75 % of RP were found to have received the administration of mRNA vaccine (15/20).

One year later I was diagnosed with systemic sclerosis or scleroderma, high ANA titer, and rapidly progressing scleroderma.
Did anyone else experience a similar situation?
