Diet - Eggs or no eggs?
I am just beginning ADT ( Gleason 7 4+3 T2a ) and see the oncologist tomorrow here in France to set out the RT plan. No dietary advice so far from eg urologist and guessing that tomorrow will only be a practical regime for the duration of the RT. Respected sources constantly recommend a plant-based diet ( already on this ) with little or no dairy products. However, the court seems to be out in the matter of eggs. This concerns me, since B12 is clearly important on all fronts and calcium is clearly an issue with risk of bone thinning whilst on ADT.
Has anyone here received advice for or against please?

The Wang study days only 1.5 whole eggs a week.Only low fat dairy and no red meat and only fish and poultry. I don’t know if this study is still relevant. I have read on nutrition facts. That poultry was associated with prostate cancer which is the opposite advice from Wangs study so what is the right advice

I’ve never seen anything that says poultry is a prostate cancer risk. Can you give a link to any articles that discuss this?
I read it in on nutrition facts. Org I think I found it but googling poultry prostate cancer
I'm not a authority on nutrition by any means, but, there seems to be some finger finger pointing at choline here. So for kicks I ran this past an AI platform...
In short: choline is indispensable for brain function, liver health, fat transport, and fetal development. Deficiency is relatively common (especially in pregnant women and vegetarians/vegans) and can have serious long-term consequences even without obvious symptoms.
The Institute of Medicine suggests the optimal amount for an adult male is 550mg daily.

5 ReactionsI eat about 3 dozen eggs a week.
(Although, they come from my quail so it's not as bad as it sounds.) 😁
I really don't care what any studies say. They are delicious and if I wasn't supposed to eat them, they wouldn't taste so good. (That goes for 2-inch T-Bones too.)

Thanks Shalom : ))) ! Yes, beet can help definitely. Unfortunately did not work fast enough for my liking in my husband's case so I decided to implement more "radical" steps ; ) . Vit B12 injection did a trick as well as plant based extracts of Fe and vit B.
Apples - part of everyday diet in our household : ))) ! They are now in season - I can not get enough of them : )))
@jeffmarc
I recently found some new studies about poultry (chicken) but unfortunately never saved them - lately I just "take a memo" and implement or not implement according to my personal liking and understanding. Also, many members are not interested in those studies so I stopped cataloging them. Those were new studies about BCR since nobody did them before separately and specifically. Supposedly chicken and eggs have stronger effect for PC patients who already were diagnosed and treated - those who consumed eggs especially, and chicken with skin ( this was not so clear) had more BCR. I will try to find those studies again.
Somebody mentioned choline , and yes many researchers and authors think that excessive choline can be a culprit, but who knows , and I do not care. My husband now does not eat any eggs. He eats fish regularly, chicken in tiny amounts and very rarely, pure vegan meals at least 2 times a week.
All in all, after our surgeon confirmed and told my husband that the best thing he can do to avoid BCR was to avoid all animal products as much as he can (since he did studies personally and follows his patients for decades) , we decided to stick to veggies, fruit, all kind of fish, soy milk, vegan cheese, nuts, legumes, and list goes on and on : )). One can concentrate on "one thing " that is avoided or on many, MANY things that are NOT and than one does not feel deprived at all : ).
Nothing gives 100% warranty - not even radiation or RP , not even close, but they help !!! So that is our philosophy - do what you can to help yourself, all the rest is written in the stars ; ) .

You bring up some interesting points, really centered around choline. I know that egg yolks have a lot of it and the whites don’t. I still eat 2 eggs twice a week, poached over an English muffin.
Apparently, chicken does have a fair amount of choline in it. An egg yolk has about 150mg and a lean 6oz chicken breast around 200 mg. A 3 1/2 ounce chicken thigh has 75 mg, I only eat chicken thighs. Probably closer to 5 ounces.
And then you run into absolutely weird facts like this
The danger of choline for someone with prostate cancer is still being researched, but some studies suggest high intake may increase the risk of aggressive or lethal prostate cancer, possibly by promoting tumor growth and inflammation. However, other studies have found no association between high choline intake and lethal prostate cancer, and some even suggest that high intake may not be associated with total prostate cancer risk. Therefore, it is recommended to consult with a doctor to determine the right amount of choline for their specific situation.
I’ve now been undetectable for 24 months. I probably eat fish three times a week and chicken four times a week. I also eat a small piece of cake or a couple of cookies every single night along with a bowl of strawberries. My wife likes to bake cookies and cakes,, I have six different things she keeps in the freezer. I eat one a night. I’m not nearly as good at this as you are, But after all these years, I have lost my strong fear of dying soon. I do eat a couple of ounces of Brie every day too, but mostly have Soy milk, 1/2 gallon a week with high protein cereal,. I do make cappuccino every morning with nonfat milk, The fat is what supposed to be the problem. When you steam milk you throw away about 3/4 of it So I probably only drink about 2 ounces a day. I’ve been a bad boy!!!???
I guess if my PSA started rising, I would probably cut back on some things. But everything in reasonable amounts seems to work.
