How to manage microscopic (lymphocytic) colitis?
What is the best strategy for handling this rare(?) condition? I have been diagnosed with this and have been given very little information as to how to manage the symptoms. Are flare ups usual? Can symptoms be controlled with medications? My biggest complaint is pain and have been investigated for pelvic floor pain, urologic type pain and MSK pain all to no avail. I think it is the colitis that is the cause of my unrelenting pain. Your thoughts? Suggestions?

@ferguson23 Wishing you well in your journey. I am on budesonide, usually just 2 a day. I'm just starting it again after having surgery on my diverticulitis. In the past it has really controlled my bathroom issues. I hope they fine what will help you the best.
I take cholesterymine powder mixed with orange juice every other day and it helps a lot!!

1 ReactionI'm hearing conflicting things on how to handle the diagnosis of lymphocytic colitis. my doctor says I should eat whatever I want to eat, but there are things that trigger episodes I'm finding. would love any thoughts about diet and lymphocytic colitis.
@hoops17 - I moved your post here to this existing discussion on lymphocytic colitis so members here could weigh in on your question about whether diet has an impact on this condition.
What things are you finding trigger episodes for you?
Pastrami and french fries are about the only things I've tried that were definitely triggering.
thanks for moving me to the right place!

1 ReactionI am always looking for triggers. The last thing that triggered it were a few marachino cherries with a couple spoons of the juice on vanilla ice cream!! Over all I have eaten most things- smaller amounts- but I always avoid spicy, and greasy stuff. If I get a craving - again small amounts.

2 Reactions@lpockat thanks for sharing, I'm cautiously looking for things to add to my small list of things that don't seem to be a problem. I wish they could take a blood sample and run it through all different foods I eat. One day perhaps...my latest addition of things that seem to be okay is olive tapenade, which I love.

1 ReactionMy microscopic collits has been caused by celebrex. I used it for many years without a problem until 3 months ago. Stopped taking celebrex will it improve, Can I use Voltern or will it make it worse.

My microscopic colitis was caused when taking Mupriocin to try and get rid of MRSA. I kept getting diarrhea even using it for 24 hours- in my nose. The pharmacist told me to read the small print that came with the ointment, and it did say it can cause colitis!! I had diarrhea for about 14 days after stopping this ointment, and within a year I had microscopic colitis - 4 years now! Don't think the Dr.s believed that this happened, but they did add the ointment to my list of things I'm allergic to.
