I donated a kidney to my husband and I’m one month out from surgery. I brought pants with elastic waistbands with me anticipating that I would need loose clothing for a while. However, I didn’t realize that I basically needed maternity pants because my stomach was so distended and sore. I would suggest going at least 2 sizes up on pants with elastic waistbands.

@bmcamp It is an honor for me to welcome you to Connect. What a beautiful gift that you were able to donate a kidney to your husband!
Thank you for generously sharing about donating your spare kidney and for sharing this helpful idea - I never thought of maternity pants and I don't recall seeing it mentioned before in our transplantt discussions.
Is there anything that you wished you had known before the surgery or that surprised you about your organ donation process and surgery that would have helped prepare you for the surgery and recovery?
