@loribmt Thank you for your message . It wasn't until they determined the type of pneumonia that they were able to prescribe a regimen. PCP is specifically related to low immunity. As such, SEPTRA is the only med that works. It was an everyday script, then 3 times a week. I am now clear of the pneumonia. I was also on a daily puffer called Breo Ellipta. It took 6 months to be finished with all the meds. As for the WM, I'm told recurrence is 2 to 5 years

@oashir So happy to hear you’re in remission now and doing well after the pneumonia scare!
PCP (Pneumocystis pneumonia) can be very dangerous for anyone with weakened immune system. I had a bone marrow transplant and received monthly Pentamidine treatments at the clinic to help prevent PCP for 6 months or so. I was also on a strong anti-inflammatory drug for 2.5 years and until I was off that, I had to take Bactrim and penicillin daily for the 2.5 years. (That was after I was able to stop the Pentamidine treatments). So you were very fortunate to have been able to move past the PCP!
Wishing you a long period of remission! Do you have to take any precautions now to stay safe in avoiding illnesses and fungal infections?
