We both agreed the HABIT program was excellent, Melanie, and would consider it imperative for anybody with MCI and caregivers. I would actually suggest that Mayo put together a similar program for more advanced stages of dementia, too. I would love to have some nuts-and-bolts techniques for mentally dealing with my partner's anger and frustration which, by default, is usually directed at me! I do understand that it is the disease causing it, but it is really wearing to be constantly blamed and barked at when we aren't able to communicate or when he is angry and irritable throughout the day.

The people I met at HABIT were great, and the participants at various stages of MCI, but they're weren't any concrete suggestions on how to defuse the anger or deal with the seemingly constant anger and negativity directed at the only person always around.
