Why would sinus surgery result in a massive sinus infection?
This doesn't make sense if you have the surgery to get rid of sinus infection. Now, after having sinus surgery, I have a gigantic infection, including congestion, ear infection, loss of hearing and tinnitus. It's been 2 months since the surgery. I have tried 2 antibiotics with little help. I got a corticoid steroid to put into the sinus rinse daily. I still have yellow mucus and no energy. Why did I ever do this? The surgery made everything worse and no help from that office. An ENT says "wait" and I am sick of waiting. He said if the fluid behind my eardrum does not resolve, he will do tubes.

If the main concern is the gigantic infection two months post-surgery, the simplest explanation is a secondary bacterial infection, possibly from residual bacteria or tissue damage during the procedure, or incomplete drainage. Antibiotics sometimes fail if it's a biofilm. You should absolutely not wait, get a second opinion from a different ENT and ask specifically about culturing the yellow mucus to ensure you're getting the right antibiotics.
@marcoye939 Totally agree. Sometimes it's yellow, sometimes its clear. I think that means it's getting better? A culture would work to define what the heck it is. thank you !
