NO appetite, nausea, losing weight,

Posted by dorma @dorma, Nov 1, 2025

I've steadily gotten worse over the past year or more; down to 84 pounds, and have no appetite, even for favorite foods. Doctors just blow past my questions. Have completed some tests; waiting for more. Dr would not even go over my medications for possible reasons. I am very "fuzzy" headed, hard to focus on anything. Nausea used to be mornings, but it happens pretty much constantly, though not enough to vomit; but sometimes dry heaves. I desperately want answers, if possible.

@cyndigarrison I do like to liquefy some foods, but I don't think about it enough. I do not like ginger at all, but perhaps I find a way to tweak it? thanks!

@dorma cranberry juice is 1 thing people add to ginger ale….my docs say no fizzy drinks, though 1 of them says to open the ginger ale and let it sit so it gets way less fizzy….we have to adapt to heal…

Thanks! My sister used to shake her carbonated drinks to lose the fizz...yuk...but it might work.

Please seek out another doctor! I have some of your issues, but mine are caused by surgery for a hiatal hernia, completely messed up my body, currently waiting for an appointment for a new gastroenterologist.

@dorma Gastroparesis, maybe? That's what I have, and it is no fun at all. Ugh...so sorry you are suffering in this way 🙁 Yes, I would encourage you to not give up and keep looking for a GI Dr who will advocate for you. That's definitely not normal and NOT ok ... I deeply hurt for you, friend. Sending good thoughts and hugs.

Thank you. As soon as I heal from this little back surgery, I do plan to find a better doctor.

Have a CT scan with contrast. , I did and they found out I had a calcium blockage in my Superior mesenteric artery (SMA) and a splenic artery aneurysm. In this area, you can have problems like you have. Much luck to find out what yours is.

Ask for a gastric empty test.Nausea, no appetite, and losing weight are 3 symptoms of Gastroparesis. I had one done and 70% of food was still left in my stomach after 4 hours. That is severe gastroparesis. Gastroparesis is a chronic disorder where the stomach takes too long to empty its contents into the small intestine due to weak stomach muscles or nerves. It will cause nausea, vomiting, feeling full after a few bites, abdominal pain, bloating, heartburn, and loss of appetite and weight loss due to malnutrition..I hope this help a little. Good luck..

Initially I had loss of appetite, nausea along with other symptoms of celiac artery stenosis (MALS) but persisted after stent placing. I had a normal gastric emptying test but recently my GI suggested I could still have significant delay. I’m now trying Regan before meals and there is an improvement. Plus weight gain.
Did you have an endoscopy?

@rosiet1976 I do have Gastroparesis, but probably need a re-check; it's been several years. I could not stay on his "diet" since I lost 5 pounds in a week, and I was already too thin.
Thank you for caring.
