Many people with IBD (or IBS) find the FODMAP diet helpful. Here is a link to a Mayo Clinic news feed with an explanation about this eating plan.

@hopeful33250, yes I tried the FODMAP early after diagnosis. I have found that many foods on the Low FODMAP diet cause me problems. I pretty much know the foods which are problematic. Vegetables need to be well cooked. Eating beef steak is out! I get protein from pork (not cured), fish (especially salmon), seafood, eggs, collagen powder, yogurt. Most fruits are okay.
