Has anyone else been on emgality injections for migraines? And having?
I have been on emgality injections for 3 months about to do my fourth one. I have had some side effects that my neuro dr says can't be from the injections. This is the only new med I have started in 4 months. Long story short, I have been very fatigue, high blood pressure, dizzy spells, ringing in the ears, and almost like sinusitis infection. About 2 weeks after first injection dr put me on antibiotics and steroids for a severe sinusitis infection and double ear infections. I felt better till I got the second injection now I have the same symptoms all the time some days or worse than others and some days are good. I also have back pain along with hand swelling for about a week to 2 weeks each time I get injections. My health insurance is very strict and my family dr has to refer me to specialist. What should I do or are these side effects normal. Yes my migraines are so much better than they were but I don't know if I can live with the side effects.

I have and had a very bad allergic reaction after my initial injection. My body has broken out in horrible rashes all over for 5 consecutive months and I have been on 21-day regimens of steroids for 5 months. My neurologist took me off Emgality immediately.

2 ReactionsI was going to inquire for more information because I've never heard of this med. However, after reading side effects, I think I'll pass. I am curious as to what other meds. you have tried.

1 Reaction@mrswhitt1 thank you for the information. Sorry you had to go through all of that. I'm going to say something again to my doctor because I can't keep living like this each day. Hope you are doing better now!

1 Reaction@nannybb I have tried several over the years. I can't think of them all. One was a nasal type spray. I have tried topiramate. I have been on immitrex, ubrevly, nurtec, Qulipta, and amptriplyn I think is hoe you spell it. Those are the ones I can think of right now.
I have been on Emgality for six years. The only side effects I had to start was an end to daily migraines and some constipation. Over time, the constipation is better and I've learned to increase fiber and to take fiber supplements. Emgality saved my life and changed my life. I am able to work part-time again.

1 Reaction@compassiondharmalake Amazing how one med. works for one person and is a solid no for another. Really glad you were able to conquer the side effects and getting relief. What a blessing.
@compassiondharmalake I'm so glad it has helped you. It really helped me with my migraines, just the side effects are so bad. It's weird are one medicine works differently on each person. I'm glad your able to work and your migraines are better.
