Anybody have intercostal nerve damage (neuropathy)?

Posted by johnt54 @johnt54, Nov 6, 2025

Intercostal nerve damage following VATS pore than one year ago. Includes transverse abdominis muscle atrophy and a pseudohernia. Surgeon and hospital system basically abandoned me with the thought that it will heal on its own…or it won’t. Limited PT to core strengthening. Denies that this would be causing any digestive issues for me.

Can you tell me the ingredients in your transdermal cream? How well does it work ?

Doxepin HCL, Amantadine HCL, Dextromethorphan HBR, Lidocaine

It seems to work well for me.

@sudie46 im trying to avoid medication if at all possible. I do have a topical prescription from the neurologist which I use sparingly. I also use DMSO topically a few times a week.

My neurologist prescribed a compounded transdermal medication from this company. https://transdermalinc.com/

My neuropathy is from intercostal nerve damage.

Thanks a bunch for this information. I have asked my PCP to prescribe this for me. I forgot to ask if insurance covers any of the cost and how expensive is the cream? I sure hope it helps. Best wishes to you.

@carolynhughes75 At first my insurance wouldn't cover the exact compound that was prescribed but worked with the compounder and the Dr to tweak the formula so that it was covered. I pay $18 per script.
