Medication for acid reflux/GERD
I’ve been struggling with acid reflux/GERD for a few years and my doctor has just suggested I take a PPI proton pump inhibitor (such as pantoprazole). He was previously reluctant agree to this, despite recommendation by the gastroenterologist I saw.
I’m sure there have been discussions here related to taking PPI’s with bronchiectasis and Mac but wonder what others have experienced related to this?

2 Reactions@lilianna I started taking Brinsupri 8 days ago, and I noticed a spike in my blood pressure, but not enough to worry about. We need to keep an eye on the BP.
@irene5 My sister has “white coat syndrome “. She does not have hypertension but her pressure is markedly elevated with any Dr. visit. Not sure but it may be related to fear after being severely ill and surviving complications after lung surgery for CA years ago.

3 Reactions@melinda561 That would definitely do it!! ( irene5)

Yes my blood pressure which now oscillates 130-150 is from brinsupri. I finally was able to the nurse at NJH and was given three options
1. Watch how it goes. If it stays 130-140 it is not dangerously high
2. Start taking low dose blood pressure medication ( my doctor is on vacation)
3. Stop taking brinsupri - I think it does help so I would not like to do it
I also spoke to Insmed pharmacist who said the same plus that it could be switched to 10 mg and see how it works. So far I start the day with BP of around 130/80 which is high for me but considered normal for my age of 69. Please let me know how your symptoms continue. I hope my body will adjust.
My husband has found immediate relief from GERD by drinking a few ounces of almond milk which is alkaline.

2 Reactions@lilianna By a quirk of fate, I had my yearly appointment with a cardiologist. He said the increase was not a problem. Mine was 134, and before Brinsupri, it was 124. I'm 76, so it is not a problem.
