Eligard vs Orgovyx

My husband received his first Eligard injection in May 2025. This month was time for his next injection. I requested Orgovyx. One urologist I spoke with said he feels Orgovyx enhances the chance of liver damage and being on Aberaterone compounds that. Does anyone have any information or experience with this?

Orgovyx may have a slightly higher chance of liver function issues than Lupron, but they are considered generally transient, mild, and rarely required stopping the medication. But then you look at Zytiga, and it can be even more damaging to the liver in some cases.

I know a few people that are taking both Orgovyx And Zytiga without problems. I took Zytiga for 2 1/2 years and never had any problems with my liver function, But never took it with Orgovyx At the same time.

I think it will be difficult to find people that can really answer this question, Sounds like the doctor is just being protective.

I was on Lupron for six years, Getting six month shots. I’ve been on Orgovyx For almost 3 years and the only real difference I’ve noticed is I get fewer hot flashes. I switched because lupron Cost me $800 more a year than Orgovyx, which is essentially free. After all these years on ADT, it could be the reduced hot flashes are just due to my body Getting over that one side effect.

Just some things to think about, You could ask another doctor as well.
