Hi @lilac2025,
Your question is so serendipitous - I just received my CTX and P1NP scores one year post-Reclast and after previous years (1) of Evenity and (9-1/2 months) of Tymlos and my scores indicate that my bones have again begun their descent into resorption mode. I asked my current doc to quantify the increase . . . couldn't pin him down. He did say, however, that what he sees in the numbers does not require any urgent intervention. I have a DEXA in January, 2026, and we'll wait until the dust settles and see how "bad" things have gotten. He, again, told me Prolia could be my saving grace. 🙁
No doc has ever tried to determine why I have OP, and none has really taken into consideration my personal medical history enough to say "Oh, that penicillin you had massive doses of as a little girl may have caused this . . . or you drank too much coffee . . ." My first doc pretty much just said, "What does it matter - you have OP". Unfortunately, I've always been a "why" person, but I had to settle for that; guess I'll never know.
With this new, and disheartening, bloodwork I too have decided to perhaps go the more natural route - my diet and supplements are already under control, so I figure what I need is exercise. No doc has really given me any info on that subject either - "Walking is a great weight-bearing exercise". While that may be true, do I need to walk 1, 10, or 100 miles per day to avail myself of that benefit? Additionally, I feel that strength training for my core and limbs will keep me more upright as my spine starts to settle and will give my muscles a chance to keep my puny little bones from taking the brunt of gravity that age seems to wish upon us.
Didn't mean to sound so doom and gloom. 'Nuff said. If anyone has any thoughts on strength training, walking, etc, feel free to jot a line and put it on the wire. Happy Thanksgiving, all!
Cheers!
