Welcome @daveroofer, Good question, like a lot of different toxins it seems logical that there could be a connection but I'm not sure how fuel would get in the water on ships. Being a tin can sailor who served on 2 different ships the taste of water could sometimes be a little funky once the fresh water tanks ran out and we were using sea water that was run through the ship's onboard distillation process.
