New Here: Haven't been diagnosed yet going to urologist soon

Posted by harry100 @harry100, Nov 18, 2025

Hello Everyone,
I'm 67 years old. Haven't been diagnosed yet.
Going to the urologist tomorrow.
But I would like to your opinions regarding my situation. I know it is difficult to assess without the test results. But here goes....
PSA 9 in April
PSA 7.8 (Free PSA 30.5%) in Nov
I've had 4 doctors do RE. And all have found everything normal.
But what concerns me is that I have lower back pain, severe constipation (been to the ER 3 times), erectile dysfunction....
Am I in trouble?

There are a dozen things that can cause PSA to bounce around. If it were me, I’d ask my medical team to rule out those things first.

Is all of your other bloodwork normal - CMP, CBC, etc?

I would consider the easy things first…..

Hello,
Thank You for your message.
I had to look up CMP and CBC...
My doctor hasn't mentioned anything else outstanding other than my PSA 7.8.
I will see him in a couple of weeks and I will ask him.

@harry100 CMP (comprehensive metabolic panel) and CBC (complete blood count) are basic blood workups that everyone should (probably) be getting annually from their primary care physicians just to keep up on how the body is doing in general.

With all your other stuff going on - aside from your elevated PSA - CBC and CMP tests would provide you more information regarding anything else that might be causing these issues.

Update...
On Dec 5th- PSA went down slightly to 7.4.
It had been 9 in April, 7.8 in Oct and 7.8 in November.
MRI came back with two lesions 12.3mm and 11.4mm.
PRIADS 3 and 4.
Had biopsy on Dec 16th. Didn't feel a thing... Went straight to sleep.
Get results on Dec 29th....
Petrified 😬

It’s good you have the biopsy done. We all know waiting for the results can be stressful. But you have been doing research and can see from other’s experiences detailed in this forum that whatever the results, there is a way forward and options. Take a deep breath and enjoy the Holidays where ever you may be. You will tackle all this in the new year with plenty of support from this forum. Keep smiling.

Miracles of Miracles....
I received my biopsy results today.
And of the 28 samples they took of my prostate, not one showed any malignancy.
I'm in total shock and don't know how to take this in.
I'm very thankful and grateful, but I just wonder if they mixed me up with someone else.... I'm the consummate worrier.
I have a follow-up in May...

@harry100
Congrats !!!
That is great news. Take the win and relax.

I am quite the worrier myself. I had a biopsy on 12-11-25 and got my results on 12-15-25…everything was benign.
I was so relieved. I personally am not going to get a biopsy every year to just check and make sure everything is ok.
CONGRATS AGAIN ! HAPPY FREAKING NEGATIVE BIOPSY NEW YEAR 🎉🎉🎉🎉
