tests and NJH visit

Hi,
I am looking at my 5-day schedule at NJH, filled with tests. I guess they have to test and find out ...
Did you have the same expereince? Did you have to have a hi resolution CT and bronchoscopy, both? I am scared of the bronchoscopy. Last time I had it, I had to stay overnight at the hospital because my oxygen got low.
I wonder if they do consider the tests we have done at our local place. I had a bronchoscopy last July.
Just feel a little puzzled. I do see this is why they are doing a thorough job.
Your experience will be appreciated.

I suggest bringing all your local test results with you when you go. If you don't want a bronchoscopy, tell them that. They're very good at teaching you how to cough up mucus if that's a problem for you.

If you have a bronchoscopy or any procedure with anesthesia at NJH you have to have someone staying with you who can monitor you overnight. I had to stay in a room at the children's hospital which was pleasant and very clean. Nurses were there but you did your own care. A doctor sees you and they administer your medication. I went directly from there to my early morning appointment the next day.

@rozie83 Interesting information Roz about NJH having in place the availability to an NJH patient, from out of town who is alone in their visit for consultation and testing, a room at the children's hospital across the street from NJH. Another plus for NJH. My weeks visit went without any major problems and overall a seamless experience. This arrangement given to you again shows all NJH has in place having been doing this for the many years they have.

I went to NJH this year. Linked all my test results and brought all prior CT CD’s. X-ray and High resolution CT were on my schedule. I asked them to change to low resolution CT only and they agreed. No bronchoscopy. What they recommend is probably based on your condition.

@as2508tutamail , Thank you so much. I also have linked my records, but based on what I know, they can't see the images. So I have asked my pulmonologist to send my images to them. Thanks for sharing the CT experience. That is very helpful.

Sorry, I meant low dose CT, not low resolution CT.

While at NJH you might consider asking for a copy of the CT you have done there. Just ask at the imaging registration desk after you've had the test. They'll do it right away and you can take the CD with you. That way you'll have it for your records and you can take it to your doctors back home if they want to review it with you.

Good idea. I saw my AZ PCP yesterday. NJH had sent records to her per her request. I never thought of getting a copy of my CT, but I would bet my pulmonologist could get it.
Another thing about the room at the children's hospital. You can order dinner or lunch from the menu that the hospital patients use. I was worried about how you would get meals.

@rozie83, @coffcoff, how did you all sanitize the nebulizers during the stay?
