Duloxetine 20mg
I took my first capsule of Duloxetine 20 mg. When I went to sleep, my heart was beating fast, also did not sleep well. Should I keep going or pack it in. I hope someone on here can give me some good advice.
Thanks so much!

I'm puzzled as to the responses about Duloxetine. I am on 60mg, and I take it in the morning. I don't feel it does enough for me as I still have a lot of pain. Last time I was on it, and stopped, I had very little trouble. Different strokes for different folks! I wish to find something that would help with the amount of pain I have. My husband is on his journey with Alzheimer's, and I am his caregiver. His dad died of it when he was 79. My husband is now 82 and still has a few years left. but will I?
The side effects on Epocrates is two pages long!
I can only give you my perspective as what I am sure doctors call a “difficult “ patient. If side effects are negative as with me and so many others, I refused to take it after one pill that made me profoundly depressed. For some it works for some it doesn’t. I insist on being in charge of my own. body.

1 ReactionHi-I have been taking duloxetine (30 mg a day) for major depression. Recently, my dr upped the dose to 60 mg a day. About 10 days later, I discovered my mood had vastly improved.
This drug did nothing for the pain of lumbar stenosis and cervical spondylitis - However, another drug called Pregabalin (Lyrica) did in a big way-I take upward of 600 mg a day and find I can mostly walk again without much pain or tripping over my own feet. Now, if your dr does agree to prescribe it, they are going to start you on a low dose like 25 mg a day and increase as needed.
Tip: I am not a doctor and not qualified to give medical advice.
That being said, I can only recommend you check with your doctor. At least they will be glad to prescribe something that is not a strong opiate.
Good Luck!

1 Reaction@ardeecor I take 1200 2x daily. I handle that well For some cymbalta works for others it is horrible and harmful. I have been tried on anti depressants cfor 30 years a few worked briefly but most were harmful — forgive my cynicism but the MDs do learn about the medicines from the companies’ sales reps. Medical education is by exam not independent research.

2 Reactions@ailsas Hi-I do not know if you meant you are taking 1200 Pregabalin or 1200 “Cymbalta.?”
I hope I misunderstood.
If you are actually taking that much Cymbalta, I hope your dr knows about it because that is 10x the max safe dose.
I take 1200 Pregabalin daily.
My Cymbalta dose is 60 a day.
My dr said the max dose for Cymbalta is 120 mg a day - and that if one were taking more than that regularly, they run the risk of contracting the life-threatening serotonin syndrome.
I have yet to tell my dr about the pregabalin. He is more than happy to prescribe me 600 a day. I am taking up to 2400 of Pregabalin.
I am No doctor so just sayin’ “what’s good for the goose ain’t necessarily good for the gander.”
Take Care.
1200 mg gabapentin 2 times a day for pain As previously posted took cymbalta once and refused to take it ever again - it made me profoundly depressed. Insofar as anti depressants little to no help most have been harmful. Do not take.
@ardeecor
Does lyrica cause weight gain for you or any other vpbadecside effect to?
