Mold Toxicity
Was doing some research on Symptoms of Lyme Disease the other night and ran into similar symptoms of Mold Toxcity. Does anyone know anything about it?
Thanks,
Sundance

@glenb I also went through the exact exposure for two years until I had a mold inspection and was shocked at the results. It was behind the wall and not visible. I was constantly sick and doctors could not come up with a diagnosis. My question is what is the long term effects after suffering to this exposure. I was recently diagnosed with COPD and my oxygen level is 93 to 95.

1 ReactionMay I ask a technical question? Was it verified that this was the only area with mold? Suggest you get a volatile organic chemistry kit - they can be rented - and check your house for mold. Since there was a rebuild also check for formaldehyde. I suggest doing it yourself because I worked in mold inspections for 20 years (and worked with mold for 20 prior to that) and came across horror stories of misleading work. I can tell you where to rent kits if you are interested.

2 Reactions@mundane98 I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with all this. I wrote the following note to someone earlier about how to find reputable companies. The information is from @sueinmn

I think that you also received reliable info from @myhearthealth24.
Can you contact them tomorrow?
@myhearthealth24 Servpro did the remediation and the apartment was tested again with shocking results. The mold was airborne and I was told to vacate immediately. I vacated permanently. Mold can really get into your upholstery and mattress so all of those items were removed as trash.

3 ReactionsMy experiences with Servpro are that it really depends on which one you are using. They are basically contractors or subcontractors. Always ask for references. Check the references and ask if you can see what was done. If possible take someone with you who knows a little about construction. The field is poorly regulated.

3 ReactionsJust a note. Clients with Lyme are usually hypersensitive to mold. Since Lyme is so variable in responses many of which are neurological seems reasonable to compare the two. Please remember all black molds are not toxic mold. Thousands of molds are out there, some are black—of course can still be allergens.
I had a very similar situation last year, where mold was growing under the flooring and causing ongoing respiratory problems that no one could figure out at first. At first, I tried working with ServPro, but my experience was mixed. They handled the visible parts well, but the hidden mold under the floor kept coming back, and the air quality didn’t really improve. It felt like the job wasn’t fully completed below the surface. After a lot of frustration, I switched to FDP Mold Remediation. Their inspection was far more detailed... they sealed off the area properly, removed the hidden mold safely without spreading spores, and treated everything underneath. They also left air purifiers for several days and did post remediation testing to make sure everything was completely clear before reinstalling the flooring.

I have living w this nightmare for years . I worked in an acknowledged sick building for 5 yrs + teaching young children w specials need including respiratory issues . The school district shut the a/c off 2 wks every summer (florida) n every time. We came back to work there was a team hired to wipe down EVERYTHING in the building including paper. I am so allergic to mold that I had 8 yrs of allergy shots years ago. They cleaned the carpet 1x per year. I tried to work w my principal n he would say that he didn't smell it. One year the equipment still had mold all over it n he told me to push it to one side of the room n have the parents sit w me on the other side for open house meetings. He also told me if I wasn't happy maybe I should look for another job . I asked him how that would help my at risk students. One yr I had antibiotics 12 months in a row.. in 2914 I had to medically retire after 18 months of testing and was diagnosed. W CVID and CMID . After 10 years of seeing an immunologist... No treatment.. I had severe COVID 2x and severe shingles within 11 months in an email to me 11/24 he said btw you now have MGUS .. and there is no treatment for your type of T cell immunodeficiency. I am waiting for an appt w USF Tampa immunology team.. 5 month wait... And now am having ultra sound of my lungs. This is not all that I've been through.. I've have a BMB, scans of pancreas, kidney, abdomen and gall bladder. My type of immunodeficiency can be genetic . Born with it but triggered by STRESS and ENVIRONMENT. If I knew then what I know now I should have sued him and the school district the day I had to medically retire.
This is the first time I've ever even tried to write a BRIEF overview of some of the issues during my past ten years. I'm looking into whether there is a statue of limitations re holding the district/my principal for knowingly putting my students and me at risk.
My entire family has been affected by lung issues/death and I am literally fighting for my life and am going to continue to pray that I get help before I get cancer .
I'm Diane .. new to this group and am so glad I found this group.. I would welcome any info, resources.. but just knowing I am not alone is a gift this is very long, I know. But I am trying to stay proactive and positive while I wait for the lung scan. Thank you all
