@donnapace Welcome to Connect. I am a spine surgery patient, but not for scoliosis. My PT said that myofascial release does help scoliosis if it is affected by tissue tightness. Patients have been able to improve their curves. It can’t fix a severe case that needs surgery. There is a provider search at mfrtherapists.com and if you search, you can find our myofascial release discussions here on Connect where you can learn more. I have done a lot of MFR work and it helped me a lot.
I was recently diagnosed with lumbar scoliosis, Cobb score 18. It is degenerative and no surgery was recommended by Ortho. I went through 6 weeks of PT with very good results and do exercises 1-2 times a day to maintain posture and balance. Ortho also prescribed a brace which I also use when needed, helps with both pain and straightens the curve. The brace is great when I need it and I am mindful not to wear all the time as it can weaken muscles.
