Thank you for this group. I have had neuropathy for several years . Last December I had a stroke. Since then my neuropathy has gotten worse along with balance. Some shoes that I wear mess with my balance more than others. IS there a good solution to getting some shoes that help me walk like I am sober?

Hello @delta1, I would like to add my welcome along with @gnocchi and others. There are a lot of us with neuropathy and balance problems, me included. I switch between barefoot type shoes with flat soles and not much padding and OrthoFeet shoes. The barefoot shoes provide a little more stability for me but are hard for walking any distance due to the jarring effect on the feet and the more cushy shoes feel better walking but also play havoc with my balance if I'm not careful. There are quite a few discussions on shoes for neuropathy if you want to scan through them to read what others have shared - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/search/discussions/.

Do you have pain with your neuropathy?

@delta1 Thank you for reaching out. I have had peripheral neuropathy for at least 30 years. 10 years ago I discovered I also have autonomic neuropathy. and Last month I learned that I have Autonomic Autoimmune Functional Neurologic Dysfunction.
For many years I have worn Birkenstock sandals Narrow, and still do. Recently, finding need for closed-toe shoes and not liking the Birk prices (over $100), I started searching and now also wear Dansko and Keen with confidence. I can wear some styles of Easy Spirit and Avia tennis shoes for up to 6 hours at a time. I need good arch supports, a narrow heel cup and wide toe box. It is a tough foot to fit and Birks work well for me in the narrow cut, regular cut is sloppy. The cork bottom and insole is the thing that makes them work for me.
