I would add one more tip to the Mayo list - Intermittent Fasting. You can still eat at the events/gatherings but just make it a longer period of time between the planned eating and the last time you ate 🙃. Lots of good information in the LCHF Living & Intermittent Fasting Support Group - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/group/lchf-living-intermittent-fasting/

@johnbishop , I like the idea of intermittent fasting. I intend to do more before too long. I’ve done it more by happenstance lately, but feel the benefits.

I also have started another practice to free up some calories and carbs. I switched my dinner meal to a lean protein over a bed of mixed vegetables or garden salad. I found I don’t miss rice or potatoes after all. It’s quite substantial and filling. That frees me up to have my other treats if I want them. It helps keep my total calories for the day down,

Another idea was that I don’t keep treats in the house. If I want, I can order them when I am dining out with others or attending holiday events. I’ve decided I’m not going to prepare any treats this year, except on Thanksgiving day and Christmas day.
