I have constipation, the magnesium citrate fixes it in twelve hours. I am having a complete knee replacement in December. I thought I would get an idea of what I will be facing here.
@anniewee ..
thanks for the info!.........seems almost everything comes with a handle "take only for 7 days"......i require something long term to try to get back a normal life!.............hard stools jamming up in narrow small intestine ..near colon!
@peterose are there foods that can help you, in addition to any meds you are using ? One thing I do is eat apple slices every day and a single dried apricot- and rarely need colace or MiraLax…hope you and all here get good relief !
@peterose interesting..my cancer team says to use MiraLax if gentler solutions don’t work…if i use it, usually just for colonoscopy prep,i mix it with Gatorade. yes, prunes work well for most people.
@peterose thanks..probably true that overuse of MiraLax, or any laxative probably is not a good idea( as true with most OTC things)….a good question, as so many people have chronic constipation, and need to deal with the root cause.
I have suffered with constipation my whole life, 3 weeks without any bowel movement is my norm. When it goes beyond that, I rely on Australian black licorice, only thing that works for me. I don’t know why but I swear by it. Just for reference, I was into my 4th week so I drank a bottle of magnesium citrate, drank smooth moves tea and took MiraLAX all in 2 days and nothing happened , licorice did the trick. I didn’t use that first because my stash was so low.

Whete does one buy Australian licorice? Just curious. As I have posted elsewhere. My constipation issues were “cured” with low fat kefir.
