I Think Therapists Don't Really Care
I've been to many therapist. There wasn't any drama or anything They've all been professional but I just felt like they didn't really care. I realized this when I told my last therapist this year that I've never been married and that it really makes me sad to see photos on social media of families with matching Christmas pajamas. She then pointed out how her family of 5 had taken matching pajamas photos for Christmas last year. What was the point of telling me that?? To be fair she did explain how sometimes it's hard to find matching pajamas in 5 different sizes. (This is a problem I would love to have.) I just don't understand why she told me this. How is that supposed to make me feel better. Just makes me feel like I am just a paycheck for her. I really want a therapist though because I am so lonely. Especially after breaking up with my ex boyfriend on Wednesday. He was my only friend.

Hi, i've been in therapy for years.A while ago I was trying to find a new one. This is like twenty years ago, and I went through sixteen.Therapists, before I found the one I liked. One of them slept through appointments, one of them was just totally judgmental. It just went on and on.I finally found my guy and I went to him for sixteen years. And he retired, so now I have his replacement, and she's getting to the point where she's telling me more about her life, than mine during sessions.
All kinds of caregivers come in all sizes. You may have to try on a few different sizes until you find the right one. But condemning all on the basis of one try on is not good.
The first therapist I went to was a total nut.
Obviously yours was not well educated or did not take their education to heart.
What I find is that some folk go into psychology because they are messed up.
That is an academic joke but does ring true as all professions have their duds.
Keep looking for a good therapist, maybe someone with a Masters in Social Work (MSW),
rather than a psychiatrist or a psychologist. They seem to deal with more of a cross section
of clients. Good luck.
