Nervive…anyone using?

Posted by uma1 @uma1, Jul 4 7:45pm

I’m wondering if anyone is using Nervive? It’s B vitamins and ALA. I’m just cautious and don’t want it to interact with anti anxiety meds I’m on.

That’s very interesting. How do you go about comparing good vs not quality of the vitamins?

@uma1
I use the Consumer Labs web site that provides comprehensive testing, analysis, and recommendations of various vitamins and supplements.

generalizations about PN and different treatment attempts seem to be very common among forum participants. This is so funny when you get right down to it. To say one treatment modality doesn't work is generalizing. Like saying B12 is useless. One must ask how much B12, what type of B12, who confirms that the product is everything that is advertised about the product is true. People who try to sell something don't lie do they? It is time for people to quit generalizing about things. To say something doesn't work is a bit immature. One needs to describe why one found that it didn't work for them. Answer questions like what, how much, how often and then say their opinion about the product. Just my 2 cents. General comments can't help much!

@snagydude
and on the topic of B12, shouldn't you work with your practitioner to check your level to be sure that you need to supplement, otherwise you may end up doing more harm than good?

@pah17 B12 is a water soluable vitamin and people tolerate high levels many times the daily recommendation. This is excreted daily and seems to be absorbed differently in many people with PN

The one I tried had lidocaine in it which gave me heart palpitations. I now take ALA, magnesium glyconate and use the topical balms from Vitality Extracts

@snagydude I used to take a B-complex. I would seem that too much B-6 can cause neuropathy, so I stopped because I'm not B-12 deficient. So I suppose B-12 alone wouldn't be problematic. But it never hurts to run things by the experts. I would think that a neurologist would be looking at B12 levels, no?

@pah17 I agree. I take a B12 supplement and stay away from B6

I have worn Kuru. Comfortable shoe that provides extra support around the heel. I went other way with shoes. Have foot and ankle numbness. Used barefoot type shoes. Got some from Keen. Actually very comfortable for daily walking. Not sure they would be as good on a rough path. Lots of room for toes to lay flat in shoe.

@eloise999 I ordered those barefoot shoes, but returned as they weren’t wide enough to get my foot into. If you have neuropathy in your feet you need a wide toe area and have to be able to slide your foot into the shoes. These were not for me….was so disappointed.

@jchet too bad. Maybe look at other brands. I have liked shoes made by Keen. They have a wide toe box.

I'm mighty grateful to whoever posted about placing foam earplugs on other side of the third toe to forestall pain. I've been doing that in the weeks since that post and it hasn't failed me yet. The only slight difficulty is finding them in the morning as they tend to dislodge.

@grayt1. Yes, an explanation about the foam earplugs and why placement would be appreciated.
