Does any neurologist prescribe Alpha Lipoic Acid?

Did it help for pain? My neurologist at Johns Hopkins suggested it. But it caused acidity for me. But your experience is very encouraging and maybe I’ll give it a try again.

Yes, my neurologist prescribed it for me when I was first diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy.

My doctor prescribed it for me. It didn't help me, but it has helped others.

It absolutely helps. I know because when I run out, I can feel the pain coming back. so I try very hard not to run out.

Make certain you get R-alpha lipoic acid. It exists in both R and L forms. If the alpha lipoic acid you get is not labeled R-alpha lipoic acid, it will be a mix of R and L, and have only half the potency of R-alpha lipoic acid.

I am having trouble with my feet i would like to know what kind of meds that you use for your
feet and what name of meds do you take? I have sugar and my feet burns and feel nume all the time. Sure hope you can help me.

@joanland yes. My PCP told me to take this supplement. I get stinging sensations that feel like I have been stung by a bee. They are random all over my body and occur at random intervals. I take this supplement and the random sensations cease.

My neurologist recommended it to me and I have been on it a couple of weeks. Have not noticed any improvement yet but it may be too soon,

Welcome @skylar0214, I don't thing alpha-lipoic acid will cure neuropathy but it has helped with the symptoms for a lot of folks. I think you are right about a couple of weeks being too soon to expect any improvement but everyone is different and you never know.
