Lichen Sclerosus: Any other women dealing with this disease?

Posted by Kitten92 @kitten92, May 22, 2017

Is anyone out there dealing with this disease? I am currently using a compound ointment that my oncologist prescribed but I'm looking for possible lazer treatments or anything else that might now be available.

I received the StrataMGT. It brought me so much relief. I ordered from Amazon. I saw my dermatologist today and she gave me a better report than usual. She has me using Opzelura daily, clobatezol 3x week and the StrataMGT. The LS is best it’s been in a long time. Now if I can find a soap for shower. I flare every shower.

@gaggy
Ask dr for Rx for ketoconisole shampoo. It was prescribed for my LS by my urogynocologist.

I fly out to Pensacola, Florida yearly to have laser treatments from my urogynocologist Dr Michael Coyle at Coyle Institute. Tulip Procedure is his LS laser treatment, and it gives great relief. He now has me using ONLY OZONATED COCONUT OIL, no steroids, and I’ve been lesion-free since my February treatment. I get this from him or from Amazon.
I also tried a laser procedure by a urogynocologist in nearby Phoenix who specializes in LS, too, but had zero relief from his treatments. Not all procedures are equally effective. So Coyle Institute it is.
I do hope you find relief soon!

I am looking for specific brand name products to use in addition to the steriod cream? Lubricants, soaps and other helpful products.

My urogynocologist has me using ONLY OZONATED COCONUT OIL now, and I’ve been lesion-freezing beginning that. I just use se it once or twice a day, so it lasts a month or more. I get it on Amazon.
Best of health to you. I hope you get relief soon. I finally did.

@mzleah you are not alone I belong to a support group through the mighty. In a recent zoom meeting Kathy explained that in a say 20-30 mile radius there are at least 100 women with this condition. She herself feels like that number could be higher.

I use Lisepten. It's the only thing I use now and can't imagine being without it.

@kristine31 Just search for Lisepten. You'll see a serum, salve, and even a tea/sitz bath.

I am using clobetasol 0.5 ointment. Not to keen on a steroid treatment but helps when l am itchy and inflamed. I am 73 and l know it is caused from post menopausal. I use coconut oil or just started with Vaseline healing jelly for my valve. I only wear white cotton underwear and night gowns. Hopefully l am okay with what l am doing. I do check all the time for any changes and l see a gyno and will be seeing a dermatologist this Friday... about the LS. He might have something else to add about my LS. Oh l try not to use toilet paper, just Kleenex that l do not flush in the toilet. It seems to be better for wiping. I also use water to flush my private part. So far so good no flare-ups. I will keep you posted and if there is anything else you can for me to do.. thanks for listening....MH

I used to have something like you are talking about.
For me it was wood.
I have very bad allergies to trees. No one Couldn’t figure it out my nose hurt so bad as well as my bottom. One day, my nose hurts so bad I went and bought men’s white handkerchief. Within a few hours, my nose felt better and the next few days it felt better. I told my allergy doctor about this, and then he told me to switch to Cottonelle toilet paper as it is made from cotton not wood. It worked and for two years I always carry some Cottonelle Toilet paper with me wherever I went.
I do understand the pain you are having it’s no fun.
I did call a few companies and ask them what type of trees do they use for their toilet paper? They told me they buy whatever is available. For me, that’s no good.
Cotton only please
