I took evenity followed by reclast. I have a deca scan scheduled for December. Hoping it improved my bone density. Honestly, I wish I started it sooner. I thought I could change my lifestyle and improve. I have lifted weights since college, taught aerobics, and have been very active. I have eaten well, too. I don’t know what I thought I could do extra. My sister is a hiker and gardener and carries her tent and gear on her back. We have osteoporosis just as our parents and grandparents did. We did everything right, but here we are. I wish I woke up to reality and took medicine to stop the decline sooner. Good for you for being proactive. Best wishes.

@kallettla

I get it. I have my own regrets but this is so complicated to understand and deal with.......and let's face it there are too few medical practitioners who are up to date on all of the studies and data. For heavens sake don't beat yourself up. You did the best that you could and you deserve kudos for how well you've treated your body!!! I admire you.

@kallettla My situation is similar. I always exercised regularly (weight bearing), and ate healthy (maybe not so much calcium intake as needed but otherwise) and my grandmother, mother and sister all have osteoporosis so I got it also. I think the DNA part can't be overcome by lifestyle in every case (I'm sure there might be some who have). I am on the 10th injection of Evenity (no problems with this med) and have a Dexa in Jan and then will see what is next. I did not want to take meds at all but I decided I wanted to try to remain active as long as possible and realized osteoporosis is serious and can cause all kinds of issues.
