Bone Coach Kevin Ellis, Dr Doug Lucas or Dr Keith McCormick?
I am considering Bone Coach Kevin Ellis or Dr. Doug Lucas to help me with my “gameplan” for osteoporosis. Have any of you used either one?
I am 64, recently diagnosed with OP. I have decided not to go on meds at this time with the agreement of my endocrinologist. I have no underlying issues, other than a vitamin D deficiency and insufficient intake of calcium.
I am on the web several times each day researching and I think having one of their services would help me. Based on what I have read about them, they will coach me through diet, exercise, and recommend what they think would help me.
I think they are pretty expensive, at least $15,000 from several sources. Is my health worth that? OF COURSE! I would gladly give up next year’s vacation, BUT are they worth it??
I am already seeing a dietitian, I have seen a PT (both paid by my insurance) and I am starting to train with an osteoporosis-trained person. I think other supplements would help which I am researching.
Have any of you used Dr Keith McCormick’s services? I am also considering him and his cost is only around $500.
Any thoughts? Comments??

Rheumatoid arthritis.
@lenorj Thank you so much for this. What changes have you made since your consultation ?
I will contact him soon. I will need a 24 hr urine test, can he order this for me? I may have the other blood test already, but I am certain I don’t have this one. Thanks again for your response, I really appreciate hearing from you on your consultation.

1 Reaction@izziesue Dr McCormick can not prescribe because he is a chiropractor, not an MD. I will have my primary care Dr do the tests.
I have added a variety of supplements to my diet to help with my osteoporosis battle. I also check my Ph levels to try and make my body less acidic. These changes are based on my particular tests and numbers.

1 ReactionI too checked into both of those doctors. I chose to go with Keith McCormick. He had more on the science I needed for support. I got his book " Great Bones". I highly recommend him and his book. It will give you the info on how to take care of yourself through supplements, exercise, blood tests.ect. I also did a phone consultation with McCormick before I started my meds it was very informative and comforting to hear from someone that experienced what we're going through .aHe is a wealth of infomation.Best of luck!

2 ReactionsI spent about $2,500 on Bone Coach, and found that my doctor and clinic were totally uninterested in doing the testing required. So ask to see the list of tests required for participation, and consult your doc before handing over your cash to Kevin Ellis. I already exercise, including weight trainng, and eat a bone friendly diet, and am at my goal weight, so I found the exercise plans unhelpful and the dietary coaching only a confirmation that I was doing well. I tried switching docs, but then had no access to my health history and past lab work, and that seemed important to me, so I switched back this year. I now get some of my own testing through Quest Diagnostics, which I find helpful. I like Doug Lucas and Keith McCormick, but I believe you might do best with a co-operative physician for starters. Mine seems too busy to really think about what I am asking for. And it's not part of her clinics protocol. I'd say use caution before spending your $. Good luck!

1 Reaction@mlwh From the info from all three resistance training is clearly the most important intervention along with jumping. I have tried a number of online programs since finding a trainer that specializes in osteoporosis issues difficult. I recommend looking at the Wellen program first which improves tendon and ligament strength and is a good starting point. Then investigate Hailey Happens. Excellent program that includes jumping and fast twitch work we need to prevent falls and resistance training.
