I kept a glass of water near my bed that night, when my mouth got dry I'd take a sip and go back to sleep. I got up a few times to pee but was able to go back to sleep.
I took trazadone years ago, for help with insomnia, & have it on a list of other meds that did not work. I don't remember, specifically, what response I had, but most made the insomnia worse. Like I had drank a lot of coffee before bed. I noticed some of the Insomnia meds list insomnia as a side-effect, & found that to be true for me.
I just started on Trazodone. 50 mg. After 6 days of no sleep I finally got a good night's rest and I love it. No after effects, only dry mouth. I'm thankful and will keep you posted on my sleep journey.
@andygw The local sleep specialist prescribed 50 mg trazodone for me and it took me 2 1/2 hours to get to sleep and it was not a restful sleep. I called his office twice and they didn’t return my call so I went back to lorazepam. I pretty much tapered off of that, But do Still take it 2 to 3 times a week as needed. Other night melatonin works, but it does wear off in the middle of the night
I was prescribed Trazodone which I took for a very short time. It caused ringing in my ears so much and I wasn’t sleeping that well on it; I felt as I was having strange dreams while using it. Stopped it and never took it again.
Trazodone never worked for me - it has the opposite effect - I stay awake all night.!!

I have taken Trazodone for over a decade for sleep. It works for me.
