I had my right knee done in 2021. The healing process was brutal! My left knee is bad, but I will never go through a surgery like that again. As for the replacement four years later, I have stiffness and pain going up and down the stairs. I am okay with walking on a level surface. When I asked my surgeon how long it would take for my knee to heal, he told me “two years”! After two years had passed, and it still didn’t feel great, I mentioned the stiffness and pain to him again. His answer to me was “It will never be the knee that God gave you”. Needless to say, I no longer go to him for cortisone shots to my left knee (which no longer work anyway!). So now, I have one replaced knee that isn’t all that great, and another knee in rough shape!!! I am truly happy for all of those people who have had the surgery and have done well!

I opted out on cortisone shots and went to Gel shots then 3 PRP shots over a period of 9 months. I’m doing PT and experiencing improvement. They wanted me to consider TKR but now I am able to do stairs. I’m hopeful that I can continue to improve.
