What is a safe way to taper off 100mg of trazodone?

My pcp wants me to taper off 100mg nightly of trazodone. She wants me to start taking 50mg of trazodone for 1 week then stop the next week. Is this safe? I was just diagnosed with Tardive Dyskinesia. Also she wants me to just stop taking baclafen 10mg. Is this safe to do!

I did some research for you and found that you absolutely should NOT reduce the dosage of either of those drugs by so much so quickly. It is especially unsafe to stop the baclofen all at once as you could have seizures. PLEASE consult with a doctor who knows about tapering off drugs (most psychiatrists have experience with this) and don’t reduce anything by more than 10% a week before you do.

I agree. Slow taper is so important, especially if you have been on it for a long time. I have always heard to cut the medication by 25%, maybe even less. Get a pill cutter and try cutting it 25 mg or even smaller if you can manage to do that with the pill cutter. Try that for a week or even two. Cutting it in half, I tried and I was okay but my sleep wasn't that great. Good luck and hang in there,

I was told today to decrease the 100mg of trazodone to 50mg for 1 week then decrease to 25mg for 1 week then off the next week. Does this sound safer or should I call my psyc. CNP?
