Hi, I have read that with SCLC, if untreated, the prognosis is poor, with a survival rate of 3-9 months. With chemo and or radiation it can bring it to 3 years. I also read that SCLC always returns. Is there anyone who has had theirs treated successfully? My husband has recently been diagnosed withSCLC in his RLL and it is localized at this point. It seems like it’s taken over 2 months to get his biopsy, and now waiting to see CNP to get pathology findings and to be referred to an oncologist. This entire process is so daunting. How to know what is the best coarse of treatment, which doctor knows how to treat it and not just be a number in the “system?” My husband has moderate COPD and had a pneumothorax from coughing so hard in 2019. He still smokes a few cigarettes a day and won’t quit. I’m heartbroken and lost as to know where to go from here…

@ohiogal8860, I responded to your other post too. The diagnosis process can take a while. That can be tough when we just need answers. The delays can also let us absorb and process what's happening. I hope you have an appointment soon, so you can know what's next.

I am so sorry! I was recently diagnosed with non small squamous carcinoma after a Bronchoscopy & Biopsies . Very scary & not too happy with my current care. I have never smoked & thought I had pneumonia. : (
I hope you can find good help.
