Stopping Evenity Early
I decided to stop Evenity after seven treatments because I seemed to develop increased symptoms of osteoarthritis in knees and hands while on it, in addition to generalized stiffness and joint pain. Has anyone experienced this or stopped Evenity for other reasons before completing 12 treatments?

I’ve not stopped yet, but getting more & more concerned after 6th injection. Increasing bone pain in hips & severe Achilles tendinitis, aches & pains everywhere. I feel ancient at 67. I am very active & by end of day, I can’t bear the pain anymore & cave & go to bed for relief…my poor husband has to support me because I’m so stiff & I have increasing heart issues; subtle, but enough to make me scared enough to make an appointment with a cardiologist. I thought about getting a cardiac work up before starting Evenity & foolishly never followed thru in it..,,they should tell everyone to get cardiac screening prior to starting Evenity if you’re over a certain age, say 55….are the costs really equal to the risks ?!

1 ReactionEvenity definitely causes memory problems and my Dr confirmed it and took me off it right away.
There are other medications that can cause memory ‘fog’ so I always try to research the medication I’m prescribed

2 Reactions@me49 - I went on Evenity reluctantly & had just started researching strontium citrate. I actually took it for about 3.5 mo & felt stronger (seems weird to say). The dr scared me into taking Evenity, so I am planning to finish the course unless my side effects become adverse reactions. As soon as I finish Evenity I plan to go back on SC. The success stories on Inspire.com are convincing.
While I'm just now seeing this dated post, what has been your experience w/taking strontium citrate?
@singingbones
I have been taking 680 mg of strontium citrate for 1 and a half years. I'm due for a dexa in April 2026 so I'll know if it has helped my bone density. All I can say for now, is that I haven't fractured and I haven't experienced any significant side effects ill post again when I have updated information.
It might be a good idea to discuss with your doctor a plan for a drug after Evenity. Best wishes for good health.

1 Reaction@sue6 - I just saw the same video--very informative & helpful perspective
@patwerthman To answer your question, no, up until my 9th shot everything has been fine, but I read that joint pain could is common. It’s been 2 weeks. I had my calcium draw yesterday. I am exercising again and my joints in my knees are not swollen or hurt. It took about a week after my shots to feel better. I’ve gone this far, I probably will finish. I’ll keep you posted.

I’ve now had 4 shots, & so far haven’t had much to complain about, so hoping.
The gains to be made will hopefully be worth it! Will you have a Dexa right afterwards? Or what tests/measures are you watching?
@patwerthman yes, I will have a Dexa in January. I wish you success in your journey for healthy bones.

2 Reactions@ditobin I received my 9th shots two weeks ago. I developed for the first time knee joint swelling and pain. I could barely do steps without grimacing. Like you, I have been experiencing more aches and pains in my low back and mid back. I heard a common side effect is joint pain.
