Prolia treatment for osteoporosis: What is your experience?
I received the results from my bone test and they have recommended I start Prolia. I have read the side effects and I am concerned. Has anyone use this drug and if so what side effects have you experienced. Thank you

I had my first Prolia shot yesterday with no side effects. I told the RN who have me the injection I also had fibromyalgia and she told me that because of the fibro I might not notice any of the side effects (eg, aches and pains that are common with fibro) others complain about. I will keep you posted on how it goes from here but so far so good.
My first injection was yesterday and so far so good. No additional aches of pains. I'm a happy camper so far.
I was really concerned about all the things I had read about Prolia until I read your post. I had my first injection yesterday with NO side effects. Thank you....thank you....thank you.
As important as it is to hear about the problems people have with Prolia, it is just as important to hear about the positive effects. After researching Prolia on the internet I was really anxious about getting a Prolia injection. I had tried Fosamax but was unable to keep it down so my doctor said Prolia was the best alternative. Until I found this site I had not discovered any other place where people stated that they didn't have horrible side effects. Since yesterday (3/5/2020) was my first injection I don't have a lot to share but I am NOT having any side effects so far and hope that continues to be the case.
Side effects are different for each person. I tried Fosamax but it would not stay in my stomach longer than 10 minutes. Then my dr. recommended Prolia. After doing a lot of research and reading I found this site and made the decision to give Prolia a try. Had my first injection yesterday and so far so good. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
I too have added calcium (1200 mg), 4000 mg Vitamin D, K2, prunes, raisins, broccoli, and any other calcium rich food I can find to my diet. My calcium levels have been great so I must be doing something right.
It isn't just side effects that I worry about. It's the long-term effects. SO much research out there about what all the biphosphonates do to our bones in the long run.... causes our bones to be more brittle than before. I'm not willing to take that chance. When my dentist tells me not to take them and my surgeon told me not to take them..... it gave me reason to research and look at long term.
@proloaconcern Thanks Barb for posting. Too often only people who have had problems post on sites like this. I hope you will continue to have no problems and that prolia will help your osteoporosis. I am still deciding which of these drugs I will take. The decision is difficult.

Good afternoon Barb M @proloaconcern, Thank you for your positive post about your Prolia experience. We are trying to gather reports of positive as well as negative experiences so that our members will have more information with which to ask questions about the options and then finally making a decision that is right for them. I appreciate the comment about fibromyalgia. One of my besties has fibro and is concerned.
Keep posting with us. We need to read your words.
Be safe and protected today.

I’ve been on Prolia for about 6 1/2 years, (13 shots) and have had some improvement, without side effects that I can attribute to Prolia at this time.
