3rd CT scan of lungs shows nodules: What questions should I ask?

Posted by al6 @al6, Oct 10 9:38am

1st scan showed 6mm nodule
2nd scan 6 months later stable 6mm solid nodule and a 5mm nodule of same. Also calcified granuloma.
3rd scan showed both nodules stable at 6mm recommended no follow up on those but now see Gound Glass Opacity and recommend another 6 months scan for that. No mention of the Calcified granuloma.
I have had shortness of breath for a year now. Have not yet talked to primary since getting 3rd scan in MyChart. Has anyone had similar scans. What should I be asking. Thank you for any feedback.

When you have a lobectomy or a wedge section removed they put a rubber tube in the chest to help with drainage, it usually takes 2-3 days to heal and then the tube is removed. I had my first lobectomy in 2020 and the tube was inserted but the remaining lobe wouldn’t heal so I was discharged tube and all, I didn’t want to go home like that but it was decided that I was better off at home. In the hospital I had a large container attached to collect the fluids but when I went home they replaced it with a small container so I could move around easier, the tube was finally taken out after a month and it felt so good because the pain I had from it was horrible, I couldn’t cough well and God forbid I sneezed, thankfully my second surgery went well and the tube was taken out at a normal time.

@al6, I thought I’d check in. Have you had an appointment with your doctor in the meantime to discuss the results of the scan along with your medical history? What did you learn?

@colleenyoung I have a breathing function test next week but haven’t talk to primary yet. After test I will meet with him.
Thanks for asking

I have had nodules show up off and on for years. Recently was sent for a Pet Scan which showed "suspicous" nodules that weren't there in Jan. 24. However, the Pet scan said they could not determine whether or not they are malignant. Scary. Scan also showed something "light up" in tonsil area. As for your nodules, don't get to upset just yet. I'm told that nodules are very common in the lungs. Most are non-malignant. Just follow-up with it like I'm doing.

@lhatfield96, Yes I did and that was also surgically removed in 2022.
