When you have a lobectomy or a wedge section removed they put a rubber tube in the chest to help with drainage, it usually takes 2-3 days to heal and then the tube is removed. I had my first lobectomy in 2020 and the tube was inserted but the remaining lobe wouldn’t heal so I was discharged tube and all, I didn’t want to go home like that but it was decided that I was better off at home. In the hospital I had a large container attached to collect the fluids but when I went home they replaced it with a small container so I could move around easier, the tube was finally taken out after a month and it felt so good because the pain I had from it was horrible, I couldn’t cough well and God forbid I sneezed, thankfully my second surgery went well and the tube was taken out at a normal time.

@frouke did you have another nodule come up that required another surgery?
