I know every case is different with different results, that said, I would get the last shot. I have been told that these shots carry medicine to calm down the nerve and render the pain (or whatever that was there to be gone to some degree. It could be 100
% or none at all, but the common thread seems to be that many times the second or third shot is the one that works. Just don't give up, give it all you got.
My pain is diminishing by the day with one shot, now, that may last for a day or a year. I will take whatever I get,
Hi — I hope you get a positive result. I’ve had a number of them over the years. Sometimes I’m good for years - sometimes I need once twice a year. Oftentimes my orthopedist sends me to PT 10 days after the shot to work on continually strengthen and stabilize my core muscles As much as I don’t like doing them, I do believe it has helped tremendously. I will keep my fingers crossed for success of this injection - last time I was told by the nurse to ice to help keep the medication in the area that it was injected, that heat helps dissipate it. Makes sense, I guess.
Well, I’m leveling off and if I’m feeling what I’m feeling, I woke up two days at 3am with intense tingling…Not good. Pains return, leveling off from the steroid elevation. Foot pain back. Not sure what if anything the shots now done.
The only thing I can say is that the tingling I’ve been having since this started, to when I got the shot (had tingling while injected) down both legs. Is back worse. So I’m not feeling too happy. Not sure what another shot would do. False sense of security. The first 2-3 days were promising. Well, that was sort lived.
🙁
Sorry to hear that Goaway. Injections will affect people in so many ways. What happens to one does not guarantee same results to others. I personally feel that there has not been enough research done for this malady, which covers a myriad of issues. I figure a lot has been done but just not there yet. It's like arthritis, been around for thousands of years but not even close to a remedy to date. Hope you find an answer, don't stop trying. I will say a prayer for you.
My pain from an injection March 11 is now at 80% gone. What a relief. I will update periodically but hope it stays this way forever.
Getting my 3rd Lumbar injection Friday. The 1st 2 were under anesthesia. THis one will be Caudal, and they will be doing with me awake, and I am not looking forward to that first stick! 🙂 BUT - the office tells me I do not need a driver. Everything I read says that after a spinal injection you shouldn't drive for 24 hours. It's about a 40 minute drive, and will be at rush hour. Anyone had the injection and drove themselves home?

@fiddleflyer I was thinking that's why the sites I've looked at ALL all say you can't drive - anesthesia. But then I realize that most of those also talk about giving a shot of anesthesia to numb the area - so it seems they are talking about no general anesthesia so that can't be the reason. Hopefully I can at least throw the ball for the dog afterwards 🙂

As long as you are not being sedated for the injection, it is safe to drive. Note, however, that while it is safe to drive, it may be uncomfortable to drive.

@vincescs my doc gives me a Zanax; so, the shot doesn’t hurt so much. Because of the Zanax, I need a driver to get home. Without the Zanax, you can drive yourself. But, ask for the Zanax, it’s worth it.

Stay on top Nemo.
Do you mean cortisone injections?

They tell me that I can’t drive if I’ve had anesthesia. If they don’t make you sleepy you should be fine.
Good luck!

When I had them at the hospital pain clinic I needed a driver. When at the clinic setting then no driver needed.

@vincescs
Wouldn't it be equally uncomfortable to ride unless one was lying down? If one can manage it just drive.
