Kevzara & Methotrexate

Posted by kass8174 @kass8174, Oct 17 7:53pm

Hi folks I have been on Kevzara since March and after 12 shots I started feeling better (not ever 100%) but better was short lived so Md suggested I try Methotrexate Sept 15 and I see no difference maybe worse. I read someone got a covid shot snd had a relapse. I just got both flu and covid shots two weeks apart. Wondering if it affected me??! I am able to get out of bed and get dressed so I guess I shouldn’t bellyache but I am 2years into this and tired of it!! Thanks for listening❤️

Try OTC Tylenol for arthritis as a bandaid

@kass8174 you need to be on Methotrexate a few weeks to feel its effect. Sometimes as long as four months.

Any type shot, flu, covid, shingles, etc... can cause a flare. I personally refuse all shots of that type now. But it can cause the autoimmune system to revolt. I was hoping that wasn't the case when on kevzara, just took my 4th shot.

I was on Methotrexate for 14 weeks then went on a cruise a forget it. So I have been off it for 3 weeks. Prednisone is a 5mgs
I don’t notice a big difference without it

I was told I should get all updated vaccines since kevzara would probably lower my immune system and be vulnerable to infections.

@tweetypie13 how has Kevzara worked for you? I have not been able to get below 2mg of prednisone and still have shoulder pain on 2mg.

@marmille
Kevzara has been just fine. Was able to taper from 8mg pred to zero successfully without any speed bumps in 15 wks (not shots) on Kevzara when I stopped Prednisone. I’m now at 31 wks Kevzara. Any speed bumps since stopping prednisone were weather related and I take OTC Tylenol for Arthritis.

Hi, I live in Germany and have an excellent rheumatologist looking after me. I just started on MTX and have been tapering prednisone and are now on 10 mg going onto 9 mg next week. He told me not to get vaccinated while I am on methotrexate. You can do some online research and will find explanations for that.
Hope you feel better soon
