Prolia treatment for osteoporosis: What is your experience?
I received the results from my bone test and they have recommended I start Prolia. I have read the side effects and I am concerned. Has anyone use this drug and if so what side effects have you experienced. Thank you

I, too, need to make that decision in the next week. Prolia or Reclast? Fosamax , after 2 years, resulted in gastritis. Any advice is appreciated.
On May 15, I repeat the bone density test after one full year on Prolia. I chose not to treat my osteoporosis until now (big mistake). Unable to tolerate bisphosphanates and unwilling to take Forteo. No side effects from Prolia so far. If there has been improvement will have another injection on that day. (I am 64, but was diagnosed with osteoporosis at least eight years ago).
I have been on Prolia for two years. After first year, bone density showed improvement. Will have another bone density next year. I have had no side effects so far. I am 59 years old and was diagnosed with osteoporosis approximately 9 years ago after having a ankle stress fracture.
Has anyone been on Reclast? How was is for you?
@quiteachiver75 I AM HAVING MY THIRD PROLIA THIS WEEK HAD NO SIDE EFFECTS
I was on Reclast for six years, that was the max allowed then. I didn’t have any side effects at all. During that time my bone scans remained the same; at least there was no decline. Now after three years of no meds at all I will be seeing an Endocrinologist in early May. Hopefully there will be no decline. I am positive because I had two ankle injuries last year with no bone breaks.
Glad to hear that. Did you change your diet or exercise?
I HAVE BEEN ON PROLIA FOR A YEAR WITH ABSOLUTELY NO SIDE EFFECTS....PLUS I AM TAKING CARE OF MY HUSBAND WHO HAS ALS.....WE ARE BOTH IN OUR 80'S......I THINK PROLIA SURELY HELPS SOMEONE WITH POOR BONE DENSITY......…...JAN
To date I have had 3 Prolia injections. I have had no negative effects. Since it is expensive it is best if you check with your insurance people to verify that they will cover the cost.
There is a copay card thru Prolia, check into this.
