What's up with the pain medication
I'm not sure if any members are experiencing this butI am. I am a chronic pain patient. I'm seen for back pain a long with many other issues.
I get a prescription for morphine , used twice a day for 30 days. That medication has been out of stock for over two months here. I also have had problems with 10/325 hydrocodone. They limit my prescriptions to 120 per month. It's also difficult to get. Is anyone else experiencing these issues? Please advise.

Thank you!
I live in Lexington SC and we are having the same problem, but not as bad as you are having. The two medications in my area is Morphine ER and hydromorphone. The Morphine when the pharmacies are it takes about 4-5 days and the hydromorphone takes about 4-7 days. In my area the pharmacy that takes longer to fill is CVS. Walgreens are pretty quick. The local pharmacies don't have to many issues and generally cheaper, but being a local pharmacy to take you is a almost impossible. I downloaded drugs.com and set up an account. You can put all your medications in it to see if any drug interactions. The app also tells you what medications are short in stock. The app has a lot of good information. Good luck with getting your medications filled in a timely manner.
Thanks for the information, rwilson33. There is a independent pharmacy close by. I plan on talking with them to get my medication. I am hesitant for the price. I have to pay $183.00 per month for my Xampza. I was on morphine er. They switched me because the morphine was too hard to find. I'm living off social security and a pension. That hurts no matter what you make.

2 ReactionsI am a chronic pain patient with osteoporosis of the spine, lupus, myasthenia gravis, fibromyalgia, DM2 and degenerative disc disease at several levels. Last year I fell and ended up with three lumbar fractures. A failed kyphoplasty made my chronic pain worse. I’m currently on Tramadol and Tizanidine daily. With the current controversy about Tramadol what else is being prescribed?

2 ReactionsWhat's the controversy with Tramadol?
@jjgarcia Tramadol?
@bajjerfan From studies they have concluded that the side effects outweigh the benefits. It is for mild to moderate pain and does not always help with the pain. The side effects are heart related issues and some cancers. I used to take it for my chronic migraines but honestly Arthritis Tylenol helped better with none of the serious side effects.

1 Reaction@szeszko1940 I hear you and completely understand what you’re saying. I have lived in chronic pain all day, every day for the past seven years. I feel so fortunate and grateful that I have a pain medicine doctor where I live who will listen to me and prescribe opioid medication to help me have some relief. I get facet joint injections and epidurals every few months to help with my pain. However, I do still struggle with chronic pain in areas outside of the injection sites that opioid meds help control somewhat. If I didn’t have my medication then honestly I wouldn’t want to continue living this way. I don’t leave my home, can’t stand or walk for very long, lying down causes pain and extreme leg numbness so most of the time I end up sleeping sitting up in my office chair. I can’t sit on any other furniture because of the pain it causes in my back and hips. I feel fortunate to have my loving husband still even though intimacy is nonexistent. I wish my medical providers would live a period of time in my life so they could truly understand how chronic pain destroys everything around sufferers. I would give away years of my life just to have some semblance of relief and normalcy.

So far I don't seem to have those side effects. I guess I'm fortunate that I can tolerate most medications very well.
Has anyone tried low dose naltrexone for chronic pain? I’ve heard it’s a wonder drug for pain and doesn’t have side effects. I have constant, almost unbearable pain from arthritis, fibromyalgia, lupus and a messed up spine. I’m going to talk to a local pharmacist tomorrow to discuss how to get it.
