Hi all,I have been having bad constipation for the last couple of years (working with docs, functional and western, dieticians etc), lots of straining, and last 24 hours have had some spectacular nosebleeds upon straining and upon waking (guessing my thinner skin due to menopause and the straining of trying to 'go', is causing this..I've noticed other 'airway reflux' symptoms lately, after a particularly trying time on the toilet. These nosebleeds have been 'spurters' and nothing i've had before, but 15 minutes of pinching nose does stop them.I know that straining is so bad. I just saw a new GI who recommended senakot or bisacodyl. Perhpas I'll try the senakot as I can't risk damaging body right now (with straining/nosebleeds) and then also continue my journey of diet, H Pylori eradication, etc etc so i can become more regular. Ugh. Scary stuff! Thanks for listening and any advice welcome.

@electracat - I moved your post here so you could talk with others discussing constipation and related issues, such as @researchmaven @andoman @heisenberg34 @standinginfaith and others.

What did the doctors you've seen comment related to the nosebleeds you believe are related to the straining? Did they have an explanation or preventative strategy for you to employ?
