Are you lifting items? Bags filled with groceries? Twist or turn - be careful. Think abrupt movements i.e., have you reduced routine habits? Note don't jump out of bed, but sit up for a minute, then go. To the best of my knowledge Prolia doesn't cause severe pain. I believe wear and tear is the key during the aging process. I agree with Jaleen; practice gentle, low impact maintenance.
How can you say that Prolia doesn't cause severe pain? I googled Prolia just now and this popped up: "Common side effects of Prolia include low calcium levels (especially if you have kidney problems), weakness, constipation, BACK PAIN, MUSCLE PAIN, PAIN IN YOUR ARMS AND LEGS, anemia, diarrhea, or skin problems (eczema, blisters, dry skin, peeling, redness, itching, small bumps)". I have read on other sites that Prolia can also cause loss of jaw bone and loosening of teeth. This happened to a friend of my daughter-in-law who had been on Prolia. She lost part of her jaw along with teeth and caused her to miss almost a year at work. .
I often have pain in my back but I almost never take a pain pill. Instead, I go the gym and use the treadmill and other exercise machines that will strengthen the muscles in my shoulders, back and legs. I almost always go home pain free. My last bone scan showed that my bones "were stable", i.e., no additional bone loss from the scan taken two years earlier. My doctor now agrees with my decision to say "no" to all bone drugs. Why aren't doctors pushing exercise and diet instead of so many drugs?
Hi. I'm a Volunteer Mentor, and I wanted to comment on Gabapentin, as I was taking it for 6 months. I am not a medical professional, so this is from my experience only. During the time I was taking 600 mg & later 900 mg of Gabapentin, I began losing memory and long empty spaces of time. I had trouble thinking clearly and was really not able to organize my thoughts. At first I thought it was just because I was getting older, and later I was concerned that I had Alzheimers. I was checked for Alzheimers when I volunteered to be part of a research study, and failed because I didn't have the requisite plaques that may be indicators of the disease.
I decided to stop taking Gabapentin and another pain drug I was on. Withdrawing from Gabapentin was not easy, but wasn't too hard either. After I began lowering my doses, I noticed my thinking regulating again, and to my surprise my pain lessoned. I have been off Gabapentin for about 8 months now and will never take that medication again. Related medicines are Neurontin, and Lyrica. There are other pain medications out there that might work better. If I was you, I would ask my doctor if there is another drug, other than the 3 I mentioned, that you can take. As I said, this is from my experience and information I have read from others who had similar experiences with these drugs. I hope you discover what is causing you this pain.

Hi All. I have been on Prolia for almost 2 years and have severe osteoporosis. I fell and fractured my left hip in April of 2016 and recovered from that. Last August I started experiencing intermittent pain in my left femur which has gotten progressively worse. I am now taking Gabapentin and am going to see a pain specialist. Has anyone else experienced severe pain like this from prolia? I have scoliosis and spinal stenosis and the pain in my lower back has gotten a lot worse since being on prolia.
