IVIG anyone?
I'm curious after seeing so many having recurring infections, how many here have been tested for antibody deficiencies and are on IVIG?
I had years and years of recurring infections before being referred to a doctor who referred me to an immunologist for testing. I have an IGG subclass deficiency and have been having infusions now for 5 years. It took a couple of years of continuous treatment (q 28 days) before things started to improve but the overall improvement is remarkable.

I have severe immune deficiency from cancer treatment (CLL) with Bronchiectasis. I had a lung infection for 6 months until I was diagnosed (Mayo Clinic) with immune deficiency. I do weekly infusions of Hyzentra at home and that has helped. However, I am currently three antibiotic courses (Augmentin and then Doxycycline) trying to deal with sinus and lung infection. But I'm sure the SCIG helps significantly! Life goes on!

1 Reaction@gails53 Life certainly does go on! I had to Google Hyzentra. How long have you been doing the infusions? I wish you all the best.
I have been on IVIG for many years. My immunologist says it won’t make me normal, but better. I don’t have illnesses that hang on as long.

Thanks for the good wishes! I've been on Hyzentra since May 2025. I absolutely think it's helped keep my current infection pretty minor, just comes right back as soon as I finish a course of antibiotics. I will go on Azithromycin when I finish the current dose of Doxycycline. I also have CFTR-RD (Cystic Fibrosis related disease which was diagnosed at NJH). I'm sure that complicates matters, but I'm back to walking 3-4 miles/day and that feels wonderful!
