Has anyone tried acupuncture for neuropathy?

Posted by Nancy Banks @banksnc49, Jun 27, 2018

I was just wondering if anyone has tried acupuncture for neuropathy. The balls of my feet and toes on both feet are affected. It’s no longer covered on my insurance plan so I have to pay out of pocket for the treatments. I was told I would need about 9 or 10. It would cost me about $1000. I’d like to hear if anyone has had success with this type of treatment. Thanks, Nancy Banks.

I have been goingg every other week for two years, It has not gotten ride of the numbness or loss of balance but I keep going because my wife thinks it has helped and I might be worse if I had not tried it.

I just got back from having another EMG. I have had pain numbness and itchiness from nerves in the neck and back areas. I drop things frequently and I have poor balance. I have been diagnosed with Meniere's for a long time. EMGs never show anything. They never find anything, it is very frustrating.

I have been using Acupuncture for several years. I first started after several foot operations for nerve damage and it worked very good. Then I used it for back and neck pain which also worked. Now I do use it for Numbness and tingling in arm and hands and it also is working. I have a great Acupuncturist! I also convinced my Insurance to cover several visits per year. You can search sites to try to find one that accepts your Insurance or call your insurance to see who they cover. Also check Acupuncturist reviews. Getting a great acupuncturist is key

Has anyone tried to get relief that helps PN, RLS , sleep by taking magnesium glycinate? That specific one is said to be far easier on the stomach?

I do take magnesium glycinate due to my blood studies showing I am almost always low. Not sure if it helps with PN pain as I also take pregabalin. I take 400mg prior to sleep but never have had trouble sleeping.

Hi Nancy: I have lived with neuropathy for 18 years now and have tried just about everything there is to try. I mention this because, one of the treatments I did try was accupuncture. That, too, provided no relief. despite trying 3 different practitioners. Whether it was the accupuncture that failed or the nature of my neuropathy that defied the treatment is a dilemna I have no answer to. I wish you nothing but the best and keep trying!.

@jc19 When you when for acupuncture, did you get relief from pain after the first session, or, did it take multiple sessions to begin feeling better? I have tried just about everything else.
