Sneezing more than 24 hours after IV anesthesia (propofol)
This seems like a weird side effect. Anyone know more about this? I started sneezing while still on the recovery room.

Hi @ljmontgo, I think the sneezing can be a side effect according to this information I found --- " Propofol-based intravenous sedation, in combination with periocular local anesthetic injections, induces sneezing in approximately one sixth of general oculoplastic cases." --- Factors prompting sneezing in intravenously sedated patients receiving local anesthetic injections to the eyelids: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20079540/
Are you still having a problem with the sneezing?
Welp it's now 30 hours post procedure and the sneezing has died down a lot but hasn't stopped completely. Thanks for the reply. I saw that article but I had a gastro procedure and wondered if there was some other info that might be useful. Thanks again. I appreciate you taking the time to read and reply to my post.
I also just started sneezing attacks after my IV sedation. So far it’s been more than 24 hours !
Immediately after my colonoscopy with IV sedation of Propanol, I had a new sinus reaction which just kept getting worse. My nose ran like a faucet with sneezing. It took all of my effort to catch the nasal leakage, but still big drops were on my clothes, the desk and floor. I couldn't do anything else. I couldn't drink, eat, sleep, etc. It was miserable. I have never been so disabled. At 4 a.m. the faucet finally stopped, but having last urinated about 12 hours ago, I thought I must be too dehydrated. I drank a lot of water then and the nose ran again for hours. Finally I got some sleep at 8 a.m. The next time I needed sedation, the anesthesiologist said that I had been given Propanol without those symptoms. I suggested that it must be an allergic response like the one I got from Botox.
After years of Botox to treat severe migraines, suddenly I suffered from near paralysis. As my doses were reduced, the reaction kept getting worse when the doctor said that I clearly had an allergic response instead of it being a toxic response. So why couldn't the same thing have happened with the Propanol?
