Does anyone experience tingling in the face/head and light sensitivity
About 5 years ago I started experiencing stabbing pain in my right leg. My doctor thought I damaged a muscle from strength training. Two months later the pain turned to numbness/tingling sensations in my legs and arms. I was directed to a multitude of specialists who’s tests all came up inconclusive and was then sent to a neurologist who’s tests also found nothing then he diagnosed me with Idiopathic Peripheral Neuropathy, prescribed Pregabalin and basically washed his hands of me. The 150 mg of Pregabalin at bed time does, for the most part, help unless I over exert, travel, or eat too much sodium, sugar or other triggers. My numbness, stabbing pain and tingling is not as frequent in my arms and legs recently but more prevalent in my face and head which has started to give me migraines and experiencing light sensitivity. At times it’s so bad I feel nauseous and dizzy.
My husband and I recently retired and started traveling but I’m very limited on how long I can ride in a car or sit on a plane without suffering. If I walk too much, over exert, stand too long, sit too long I pay the price. My quality of life has diminished and my marriage has suffered. I’m willing to try anything to fix this or at least be free of the Pregabalin with a more natural solution.
Has anyone experienced neuropathy in your face and head or could something else completely be causing it?

I can relate to your situation. I believe I have a pulled glute muscle--may be due to the fact that I had muscle wasting with my autoimmune disease. I wish Kim Kardashian could donate some of her ample glutes to me. The pain in my glute may be due to possible scar tissue that resulted from the pulled muscle. I am waiting for healing--its been about 4 months now. Like you, I also have some light sensitivity--especially when sun is out. I am using Systane eye drops--my rheumatologist said it was Shogren's but I tested negative for that when my neurologist did some blood tests.
I also understand your frustration about sitting too long, walking too long, carrying heavy packages, etc. I do not drive and I loved to walk. Now I am cautious. No meds for me but I am using some supplements including Krill Oil, collagen, B12, zinc, vitamin C and magnesium glyconate. I might add creatine to this as my friend says it helps muscles. I tried acupuncture but it is not for me. I am in and out of physical therapy--sometimes it is helpful. The neuropathy, so far, has been manageable. I hope you can find some answers!
I’ll be in that line with ya if Kim ever decides to donate her ample glutes! I love strength training (I was a personal trainer before retiring 3 years ago) and I’ve had to dial it way down.
Are you sure your glute pain isn’t coming from the sciatic nerve? I had that a long time ago before neuropathy and I was really diligent about doing glute stretches and it eventually went away but it was a literal “pain in the butt”.
I’m going to try those eye drops…are they over the counter or prescription?
They tested me for Shogrens too! Same outcome…nothing.
I also tried acupuncture with no luck.
At least the supplements are helping you without having to resort to meds…. Ugh, the worst! I’ll try some of those as well. Yes, creatine will help build muscle, just be real careful, you need to drink a ton of water when using it.
Thanks for replying and all the best to you also!
Has anyone had any luck trying CBD for neuropathy pain?
