Researchers were looking to see if an anti-inflammatory diet would help with ET symptoms. You can Google lists of inflammatory/anti-inflammatory foods.

If you are in hydroxyurea, do take note of acidic foods that might trigger mouth sores. I had to be sparing with my tomatoes this summer, and citrus fruit and walnuts are a problem. I switched to almonds.

I've had ET x 17 years, and I find that cutting back on starches (esp bread) and sweets helps with fatigue. So does drinking 64 oz of water every day. Recently, my husband's doc told him to increase his protein intake a bit, and both of us have felt better as a result. We are 71, and the effects of diet do vary a lot by individual and change with age.

No diet will control platelet proliferation, alas. That part of the disease is caused by your genetic mutation.

@nohrt4me oh no! To your comment about tomatoes. Summer is on the way and I love home grown tomatoes! Did you have mouth sores from HU and tomatoes aggravate them or did they develop after eating them? Same question for walnuts. I finally got my cholesterol numbers down by eating walnuts.
