New alarming symptoms
I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia for over 20 years now. My main symptoms were fatigue and minor pain in muscles.
Three years ago I began experiencing severe dizziness and syncope (fainting). No one can figure out why or ever connected it to my Fibromyalgia. In the last year, I have lost over 20% of my body weight (mostly muscle mass in my legs and arms) and for the last three months I’ve been experiencing extreme pain in all my muscles They have tested me for everything related to inflammatory and autoimmune diseases and even did a MRI of my brain. All of it came back negative.
Could this all be the Fibromyalgia? Has anyone else experienced these symptoms?
I would appreciate any and all advice, experience and opinions.
Thanks

I was loosely diagnosed about 14 years ago and have been repeatedly treated with antidepressants. Back in April I started to have a flareup. I have had months of chronic pain and burning in my legs. My blood pressure gets really low late afternoon night and mornings which comes with dizziness and fainting. Iv lost just over a stone and now I'm getting tingling in my fingers and toes.
Iv had 3 lots of blood work in as many months which are all clear. I am starting to feel a little better, blood pressure has improved but the fatigue is still hovering. Im afraid it sounds like Fibromyalgia with differing symptoms that are not as commonly connected.I hope everything eases soon

1 ReactionYes, I have. I was diagnosed at 18. I was in pain almost daily for 45 years and the last ten years included widespread severe joint and muscle pain, which was impervious to over the counter pain relief medication. I've never had a physician who would prescribe opiates, but my first lasting relief came from Duloxetine (brand name Cymbalta). This med provided a lot of relief for tender points, but not as much for my aching limbs. Then I found LDN - low dose naltrexone. Before it became known as a treatment for Long Covid, it was discovered to be an effective treatment for fibromyalgia, as well as ME/CFS. It was an absolute MIRACLE medicine for me. For the first time in my adult life, I was pain free. I was astounded by the relief. A loved one even said to me, "Hey, your back is completely smooth! All the lumps are gone!" I knew I could feel all the knotted muscles, but I had no idea they were visible.
It has no narcotic type of effects and I have no side effects from it. Life changing.

2 Reactions@jemmasaer80 this sounds like ME/CFS or Long Covid with POTS, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. Ask your doctor about these possible diagnoses.

1 ReactionYes, this sounds very familiar. The muscle pain has greatly increased and I’ve also lost muscle mass despite exercise. My psychiatrist gave me some tough love. He said, this isn’t going away so you need to learn to deal with it better. This group certainly helps. I feel for you

3 Reactions@lauriebee WOW, you made my day. I was in the LDN study at Stanford 18 years ago. I am so happy to hear someone who has received its benefits. Unfortunately, I was the only one in that study who reversed on. Thrilled for you.
Check your A1c if it is borderline, ask them to put you on metformin. I had fibromyalgia for 30 years and then I started getting dizzy and lightheaded, fatigued, and my muscle started wasting away a few years ago. Only because A1c is now considered abnormal when it’s borderline did my doctor flag it and when she did, I asked to be put on medication when she did All of my dizzy fatigue. Symptoms went away, turned out. I was insulin resistant all those years. I kept changing my diet so well, I was staying under the radar, but it got to the point where I couldn’t control it enough and the insulin resistance one. Turns out when you’re insulin resistant your muscles don’t get fed properly and it mimics fibromyalgia. I also had gout and started taking allopurinol for that. I have no more joint pain to speak of after 30 years of suffering. I hope you find relief. I never really bought the fibromyalgia. It’s true you have consequences, but there is a source and a resolution to it. No one should think they’re making these things up. They actually exist and they call it fibromyalgia, but then they don’t try to solve it. It’s a crazy medical system.

2 ReactionsI’ve been diagnosed with fibromyalgia for 20 years. I had a period where my pain was so intense I needed help just getting dressed. My pain doctor recommended I get tested for polymyalgia rhuematica. My C-reactive protein was positive. My rheumatologist started me on prednisone and within two days my pain was 90% better. It turned my life around.
@dbond4 you can try magnesium supplement, it’s a game changer for pain.
Turmeric and black pepper capsules 600mg one a day helps with joint pain. And magnesium spray is great too.
@dbond4 how is your fibromyalgia being treated? Are you getting any acupuncture, medicines? Maybe I should ask “is it being treated?”
